BigChange is Fleet-first job management for UK service businesses running 10 or more engineers in vans against contracted commercial work. It publishes no price, so the only way to get a number is to ask a salesperson for one. Every third-party directory that carries a BigChange figure prices it per seat or per vehicle rather than per account, and the directories disagree about which. Capterra and GetApp say per user; Software Advice UK says per vehicle. Nothing on bigchange.com resolves it, so treat headcount as the multiplier and confirm the unit in writing on the order form before you sign. It fits Established UK commercial service and maintenance contractors running roughly 10 to 100 field engineers with a van fleet, where vehicle tracking, PPM scheduling and per-site asset history matter as much as the invoice. It's the wrong buy for A one-to-five person residential trade business that wants to sign up this afternoon, because BigChange publishes no price, no free trial and no free version, so the only route in is a demo and a negotiated order form with a term commitment on it. That's a fine process for a 40-van commercial contractor. But for a three-person plumbing firm it's weeks of sales cycle to buy something that costs less than a van service. Alternatives that publish their prices are Joblogic from £45, Tradify from £34.00, Jobber from $24. A quote-only price and what third parties report instead, seven evidenced gaps and four alternatives, three of which publish a figure.
BigChange, in one paragraph
BigChange earns its money with Established UK commercial service and maintenance contractors running roughly 10 to 100 field engineers with a van fleet, where vehicle tracking, PPM scheduling and per-site asset history matter as much as the invoice. If that's you, it does the job. The sections below are the parts worth checking before you sign. But the fit is narrower than the marketing suggests, and the price isn't the whole cost.
The vendor publishes no price. But every number below was verified on 7 August 2026 and comes from a named third party that says which.
| Pricing model | Custom quote, no published price |
|---|---|
| Entry price | Quote only |
| Users | Every third-party directory that carries a BigChange figure prices it per seat or per vehi |
| Ownership | [object Object] |
| Best fit | Established UK commercial service and maintenance contractors running roughly 10 to 100 field engineers with a van fleet, where vehicle tracking, PPM scheduling and per-site asset history matter as much as the invoice. |
| Accounting sync | Xero (two-way), Sage (one-way) |
What works
- Live schedule plus vehicle tracking in one screen, with a 28-day horizon on the engineer's tablet
- Worksheets are the flexibility story, and they're genuinely the strongest part
- Capture is ahead of extraction, consistently, across years and roles
- 365 days to take a backup, then BigChange can delete it
- 99.5% target with service credits that top out at 10% of the monthly fee
What does not
- The tablet data allowance is the line item nobody budgets for
- Multi-trade contractors hit the ceiling fast
- Getting data back out is the recurring complaint, not getting it in
- Document and quote template setup is billed separately
- The AI features run on Fair Use quotas that BigChange can change without notice
BigChange is Fleet-first job management for UK service businesses running 10 or more engineers in vans against contracted commercial work. It sells to Cross-trade and Electrical and HVAC and Plumbing contractors, and the shape of the product follows from that: The core loop is the reason people buy it. Jobs go out to a tablet, engineers complete a worksheet, the office watches progress and vehicle position live. The constraint reviewers hit is the forward view on the device: one reports only being able to see 28 days of jobs on the tablets, which bites when work is planned months ahead and engineers are trying to book holiday around it.
Ownership matters here more than it usually does. BigChange is owned by [object Object], so weigh roadmap risk alongside the feature list. An independent product can be bought and folded into somebody else's plan two years after you sign.
Who BigChange is for, and who it isn't
It fits Established UK commercial service and maintenance contractors running roughly 10 to 100 field engineers with a van fleet, where vehicle tracking, PPM scheduling and per-site asset history matter as much as the invoice. That's the half most reviews print. Here's the other half, which is the one worth your time.
Don't buy it if you're A one-to-five person residential trade business that wants to sign up this afternoon. BigChange publishes no price, no free trial and no free version, so the only route in is a demo and a negotiated order form with a term commitment on it. That's a fine process for a 40-van commercial contractor. But for a three-person plumbing firm it's weeks of sales cycle to buy something that costs less than a van service. Look at Jobber instead.
Don't buy it if you're A genuinely multi-trade contractor running distinct divisions off one back office. Reviewers who tried it across trades describe the product as fit for a one-trade business, and the reporting weakness compounds when you need per-division costing rather than one blended view. Look at Simpro or Joblogic instead.
Don't buy it if you're A US or Canadian contractor. BigChange is a UK product governed by the laws of England and Wales with exclusive jurisdiction in the courts of London. Its accounting integrations are Xero and Sage, its support model is UK-hours-plus-RoadCrew, and QuickBooks doesn't appear on its integrations page at all. So the whole shape assumes a UK business. Look at ServiceTitan instead.
Don't buy it if you're A business whose buying case rests on the AI agents. The AI layer is quota'd at 6 JustAsk credits per build per month with Fair Use limits elsewhere, and BigChange reserves the right to downgrade the model you get, throttle responses and change quotas at any time. Buying the platform for the AI means buying something the vendor can contractually shrink after you sign. Look at Any FSM you would buy on its core scheduling and invoicing alone instead.
What BigChange costs
You won't find a number on BigChange's pricing page. What you'll find is a form. So the honest version of this section is about what the form asks and what the quote is indexed to.
The vendor's own wording is this, and nothing more: "BigChange runs a dedicated pricing page and puts no number on it. The page leads on a return-on-investment claim and two buttons, and that is the whole of the pricing disclosure." So treat every third-party page printing tier names and figures for BigChange with careful suspicion. Those numbers are not on the vendor's site today, and a roundup that reprints them is telling you what BigChange used to charge somebody else.
And we aren't going to print a per-month number we can't open a vendor page and read. What exists instead is third-party reporting, dated, from people who saw real contracts. Read it as a range rather than as a quote you can hold anyone to.

What a BigChange quote leaves out
Payment processing. BigChange does not publish a card processing rate. Its sub-processor list names BlueSnap as the payment service and marks it 'optional on use', so taking payment through the platform is a switch you turn on rather than something bundled, and the rate comes from a conversation.
Implementation and onboarding. Implementation training is a prepaid, separately purchased item, and it expires. BigChange's terms give you 12 months from commencement to use it, and 5 business days' notice to move a session without a charge. Reviewers separately report being charged to have quoting and document templates built.
Minimum term. The published terms never state a minimum term. They state that one exists and that it lives in your order form, and clause 10(c) refers to 'your minimum commitment' as a thing you already have. The number is negotiated per customer and never published, which is why the term length is the single most important line on the order.
Getting out. There is no customer-side early exit fee in the published terms, because there is no customer-side early exit. What the terms do carry is an acceleration clause running the other way: if BigChange terminates you for cause, everything left on the term, hardware instalments included, becomes payable inside 30 days.
Auto-renewal. The service auto-renews by default and the terms push the notice mechanics off into your order form rather than stating them, so the number of days' notice you need to give is a per-contract variable you have to look up on your own paperwork.
Modules sold separately. , , , . And an add-on you need in week one is part of what BigChange costs, so the number to compare is the configuration you'd really run.
"Third-party reporting puts BigChange at £14.95 to £124.95 per user per month, reported 2026-08-07."
Capterra lists four BigChange plans with figures: Vehicle Tracking £14.95 per month, Job Management £79.95 per month, Job Management Plus £99.95 per user per month, Job Management Unlimited £124.95 per user per month. Capterra also records no free trial and no free version. (8-07)
Side note, and it's a useful one: the API licence contains a clause that, read plainly, makes it a breach to sync BigChange data with any competing tool. Clause 8(viii) bars using the APIs or Customer Data to connect, integrate, interoperate with, enable, support or transfer data to any third-party product, module, add-on, paid feature or separately chargeable functionality that competes with, materially overlaps with, or acts as a commercial substitute for any BigChange product, without prior written consent. If your plan is to run BigChange for fleet and job management while keeping a separate estimating or CRM tool synced through the API, that plan needs written consent first. So the lock-in here is contractual, not technical, and it sits in a document most buyers never open because it looks like a developer formality.
Everything that is not the BigChange subscription
The subscription is the part everyone quotes. These are the lines that land afterwards, and the ones we could not find are named as unpublished rather than left blank.
Sold separately. , , , . Price the configuration you'll really run, because an add-on you need on day one is part of the price.

The five workflows you pay for
Feature totals are noise. So a shop in this category lives or dies on five things, and those are the five to grade, and each one below carries the evidence it's graded on.
Live schedule plus vehicle tracking in one screen, with a 28-day horizon on the engineer's tablet The core loop is the reason people buy it.
Worksheets are the flexibility story, and they're genuinely the strongest part Where the product wins on evaluation is the worksheet builder. A COO at a transport business names modular worksheets as the biggest selling point, specifically for ePOD requirements that off-the-shelf systems didn't accommodate. So if your compliance paperwork is unusual, this is the thing to test hardest, because it's also the thing most likely to justify the price.
Capture is ahead of extraction, consistently, across years and roles Four separate reviewers in different seats describe the same gap. The data goes in cleanly and comes out awkwardly. BigChange's answer is JustAsk, its AI business intelligence agent, which is capped at 6 credits per build per month and whose refresh rate the vendor explicitly declines to guarantee. So the fix for the reporting weakness is itself rate-limited. On 2023-10-02, a chief operating officer, transportation/trucking/railroad, 6-12 months on the platform, puts it: "There's a lack of Data analysis available. The information is in there, but there's not enough ways of pulling it out currently."On 2023-06-30, a compliance manager, facilities services, 2+ years on the platform, puts it: "The financial side of BC reporting isn't really up to scratch at the moment"
365 days to take a backup, then BigChange can delete it This is unusually generous by category standards and worth knowing before you need it. The terms give you a full year after termination to obtain a backup of your Client Data, and from day 366 BigChange reserves the right to delete it permanently. Separately, the ownership clause lets BigChange keep using your data indefinitely once anonymised, which is a different question from deletion and one most buyers never ask about.
99.5% target with service credits that top out at 10% of the monthly fee BigChange commits to commercially reasonable efforts at 99.5% availability and publishes a credit ladder: 6% of monthly fees for the affected service at 99.0 to 99.5%, rising to 10% below 97.5%. The clause also states those credits are your sole and exclusive remedy. A day of downtime on a 40-engineer operation costs a great deal more than 10% of one month's software bill.
BigChange trade fit
Fit differs by trade rather than by company size alone, and a blended paragraph hides that. Here is the split for the trades this one sells to.
Cross-trade. The workflow that decides it is live schedule plus vehicle tracking in one screen, with a 28-day horizon on the engineer's tablet, and the shop profile that gets value is 16 to 100 engineers, contracted commercial service and ppm doing commercial and service work. Where it stops being a fit is A one-to-five person residential trade business that wants to sign up this afternoon.
Electrical.
HVAC.
Plumbing.
The BigChange accounting link, and where it stops
Xero connects both ways, on every plan. Sage connects one way only, so edits made in your books do not come back, on every plan. Your costs map through cost codes, so test yours against your own chart of accounts before you commit. A code your books don't recognise is how a labour charge quietly lands somewhere useless.
Past those, the road ends. QuickBooks, CompanyCam, Named marketplace or app directory do not connect. So if your books run on an ERP rather than the platforms named above, weigh that before anything else.
Beyond accounting it connects to BigChange REST API (Public REST API with a developer portal, marketed as supporting low-code platforms including Microsoft Power Automate.), BlueSnap (Card payment processing, marked optional on use in the sub-processor list.), Twilio and AQL (SMS delivery, Twilio in the US and AQL in the UK.), Anthropic, OpenAI and Gemini (AI model providers behind the Lightning agents, all listed as United States entities.), LightMetrics (Smart Dashcam service, optional on purchase.). A public API exists: A public REST API exists with a developer portal, and it is genuinely usable. The licence, though, forbids using it to connect, integrate, interoperate with, enable, support or transfer data to any third-party product that competes with, materially overlaps with, or acts as a commercial substitute for any BigChange product, module or paid feature, without prior written consent. Read plainly, that clause makes running BigChange alongside a competing tool and syncing between them a licence breach. Liability under the API agreement is also capped at one thousand pounds sterling.
BigChange support, onboarding and the hours
Support is the line item nobody prices and everybody eventually needs. Onboarding for BigChange: Implementation training is a prepaid, separately purchased item, and it expires. BigChange's terms give you 12 months from commencement to use it, and 5 business days' notice to move a session without a charge. Reviewers separately report being charged to have quoting and document templates built.
The review corpus we read on 7 August 2026 carries no consistent signal on response times either way, so treat support as untested rather than good. Open a real ticket during the trial and time the reply, because that is the number no pricing page gives you.
Before you sign with BigChange: the exit
Nobody reads this section before they buy, and it's the one that costs money afterwards. Four terms decide what leaving looks like.
Minimum term. The published terms never state a minimum term. They state that one exists and that it lives in your order form, and clause 10(c) refers to 'your minimum commitment' as a thing you already have. The number is negotiated per customer and never published, which is why the term length is the single most important line on the order.
Auto-renewal. The service auto-renews by default and the terms push the notice mechanics off into your order form rather than stating them, so the number of days' notice you need to give is a per-contract variable you have to look up on your own paperwork.
Early termination. There is no customer-side early exit fee in the published terms, because there is no customer-side early exit. What the terms do carry is an acceleration clause running the other way: if BigChange terminates you for cause, everything left on the term, hardware instalments included, becomes payable inside 30 days.
Payment processing. BigChange does not publish a card processing rate. Its sub-processor list names BlueSnap as the payment service and marks it 'optional on use', so taking payment through the platform is a switch you turn on rather than something bundled, and the rate comes from a conversation.
And this is the kind of thing you only find by reading the complaints. Buying the tablet-bundled plan means BigChange holds title to hardware you're already responsible for. Risk passes to you on delivery, title doesn't pass until you've paid in full, and until then you may not sell, transfer or encumber the devices and must return them on request if any amount is outstanding. And BigChange's only obligation on that hardware is passing through the manufacturer's warranty. Combine that with clause 13, which accelerates all remaining hardware instalments on a termination for cause, and the devices function as collateral. So a payment dispute doesn't just risk your software access. It can trigger the whole hardware balance at once.
"BigChange is reported at £14.95 to £99.95 per vehicle per month as of 2026-08-07."
Software Advice UK lists a different and older set: Vehicle Tracking £14.95 per vehicle per month, JobWatch £69.95 per vehicle per month, JobWatch Plus £99.95 per vehicle per month. Note the billing unit shifts from per user to per vehicle between the two directories, and the entry job-management figure moves by £10. (8-07)
"A 500mb data allowance per tablet per month is virtually impossible to stay within on a platform that encourages plenty of photo taking as part of workflows - this results in high excess data charges…a very painful and unneeded extra cost."
Capterra, cooon J. (5-31)
"The product is only fit for a one trade business"
Capterra, Terry C. (8-04)
What BigChange reviewers keep running into
So here's what breaks, sourced to the person who hit it.
The tablet data allowance is the line item nobody budgets for BigChange encourages photo capture on every job sheet, then ships a tablet on a metered SIM. Those two facts fight each other, and the loser is your monthly bill. The terms give BigChange the right to bill anything past an included limit at its then-current standard rate, and that rate appears nowhere public. So the excess is uncapped and unquoted at the point you sign. But a head of relations, automotive, 2+ years on the platform, writes it differently: "A 500mb data allowance per tablet per month is virtually impossible to stay within on a platform that encourages plenty of photo taking as part of workflows - this results in high excess data charges…a very painful and unneeded extra cost." Ask for the data allowance per device in writing, ask for the pence-per-megabyte excess rate, and model it against your actual photo volume for one month before you commit to the tablet-bundled plan.
Multi-trade contractors hit the ceiling fast The platform models a business that does one kind of job repeatedly, which is why it lands so well with facilities, utilities and security firms. But run electrical, HVAC and plumbing divisions off one system and reviewers report the fit degrading. The worksheet builder is flexible. And flexibility in job forms isn't the same thing as multi-division costing, pricing and reporting. A md, construction who reviewed it on 2022-08-04 says: "The product is only fit for a one trade business" Bring your three most structurally different job types to the demo and make them build all three, including the invoice each one produces. And don't accept a single representative example.
Getting data back out is the recurring complaint, not getting it in Capture is strong. Extraction is where reviewers keep landing, across roles and across years. A COO reports the information being in there without enough ways to pull it out. A compliance manager reports the financial reporting side falling short. An operations lead reports needing the training university to work out reporting at all. That pattern is a product-shape signal, not three unlucky users. But a chief operating officer, transportation/trucking/railroad, 6-12 months on the platform, describes it it differently: "There's a lack of Data analysis available. The information is in there, but there's not enough ways of pulling it out currently." Name the five reports your business runs on and ask BigChange to produce all five from a sandbox with your data during the sales process, not after.
Document and quote template setup is billed separately Custom quoting and job documents aren't a configuration screen you fill in on a Tuesday afternoon. Reviewers describe the setup cost for quoting documents as outrageously high. And the terms confirm implementation training is a prepaid line item with a 12-month expiry rather than something included. A facilities services, 51-200 employees, writing on 2024-03-01, reports it: "Outrageously high costs to set up quoting documents" Get a fixed quote for every document template you need designed, in the same order as the subscription, and confirm what a later change to one of those templates costs.
The AI features run on Fair Use quotas that BigChange can change without notice The Lightning AI layer is the headline of the current marketing, and it's quota'd. JustAsk business intelligence gets 6 credits per build per month. JobReady, JobScribe and JobBrief run on 'Fair Use', which the policy defines subjectively and reserves the right to enforce by throttling, truncating responses or downgrading the AI model you get. And BigChange may also modify or remove quotas at any time. So if an AI agent is part of why you're buying, ask for its quota written into the order form as a contractual inclusion rather than a policy BigChange can revise unilaterally.
Termination for cause accelerates the entire remaining term Most contracts in this category let a vendor suspend you. But BigChange's go further. Terminate for cause and every fee left on the term becomes immediately due, hardware instalments included, payable within 30 days. You get 10 business days to remedy first where remedy is possible. So on a three-year deal signed in month four, that's a large number arriving with 30 days' notice. Ask for the acceleration clause to be capped, or at minimum ask what BigChange has historically treated as cause, and get the 10-business-day cure period confirmed as applying to payment disputes.
Invoices push one way into your accounts package BigChange describes pushing sales invoices to Xero and letting you pick a sync direction for contacts. So that's a push for the document that matters and a two-way for the address book. And Sage gets named in the headline with no published mechanics at all, while a reviewer describes accounts as only posting to Sage. If you expect a paid-in-full flag or a credit note to travel back from the ledger automatically, verify it rather than assume it. Run one full cycle in a sandbox: raise a job, invoice it, part-pay it in the accounts package, credit part of it, and check what BigChange knows afterwards.
One more thing worth knowing. The two biggest software directories disagree not just about BigChange's price but about what it's charged per. Capterra and GetApp price the job management tiers per user per month at £79.95 and £99.95. But Software Advice UK prices them per vehicle per month at £69.95 and £99.95. Same product, different unit, different entry figure. For a firm with 20 engineers sharing 12 vans, per-user versus per-vehicle is a £6,700-a-year difference on the same headcount. The unit is the negotiation, not the rate, and neither directory is authoritative because the vendor publishes nothing. Ask which unit applies to you and get it on the order form.
One more thing worth knowing. BigChange bundles a metered SIM into a product designed to encourage photo capture, and then reserves the right to bill overage at an unpublished rate. The Service Quotas policy states that where a customer exceeds applicable quotas, excess usage may be billed at BigChange's then-current standard rates, and separately that BigChange may prioritise, deprioritise or allocate resources between customers at its discretion. The product's best practice and the product's billing model are in direct conflict. Every photo an engineer takes because BigChange encourages it moves you closer to a charge whose rate you were never quoted. So nail the allowance and the excess rate in writing before you sign, or budget for a line item you can't forecast.
And this is the kind of thing you only find by reading the complaints. Across four years, four different roles and two review platforms, the same complaint keeps landing: BigChange is better at collecting data than at handing it back. A COO says the information is in there without enough ways of pulling it out. A compliance manager says the financial reporting side isn't up to scratch. A head of field operations says reporting isn't easy to work out without the training university. And a facilities director simply says data extraction matters and BigChange is working on it. A complaint that survives four years and four roles is a product-shape fact, not a training gap. The vendor's answer is JustAsk, an AI reporting agent capped at 6 credits per build per month whose refresh interval BigChange explicitly declines to guarantee. So the fix for the weakness is itself metered.
The BigChange review corpus, read by complaint
Every quote below is transcribed from a published review, named to the platform that carries it and to the reviewer as that platform displays them. We read the corpus by complaint type rather than by star rating, which is how the disqualifying detail buried inside a five-star review gets found.
"A 500mb data allowance per tablet per month is virtually impossible to stay within on a platform that encourages plenty of photo taking as part of workflows - this results in high excess data charges…a very painful and unneeded extra cost."
And a head of relations, automotive, 2+ years on the platform, writing on 2023-05-31, describes it the same thing on Capterra

On 2022-08-04, a md, construction, 1-2 years on the platform, puts it on Capterra
"Outrageously high costs to set up quoting documents"

"There's a lack of Data analysis available. The information is in there, but there's not enough ways of pulling it out currently."
A chief operating officer, transportation/trucking/railroad, 6-12 months on the platform, reports it it plainly on Capterra
"The financial side of BC reporting isn't really up to scratch at the moment"
A compliance manager, facilities services who reviewed it on 2023-06-30 puts it on Capterra
"Data extraction for any business the data is so important, Big Change are working on this"
A facilities services, 51-200 employees, writing on 2023-01-01, says on Software Advice
"emails sent from big change are 50/50 whether they will deliver to the clients or not, which means we have to send them manually anyway and makes the process longer so we now dont use that function since it is the same outcome"
An operations manager, environmental services, 6-12 months on the platform, writing on 2023-07-28, puts it on Capterra
"Not easy to work out how to use reporting etc, without using the university."
But a head of field operations, utilities, 2+ years on the platform, describes it it differently on Capterra
"It's too clunky - multiple pop ups and no real organisational system"
A consumer services, 11-50 employees who reviewed it on 2023-07-01 puts it on Software Advice
"Stock & Equipment is not easy to use at all"
On 2023-01-09, a project coordinator, environmental services, 1-2 years on the platform, puts it on Capterra
"We integrate the system with a client meaning they can allocate us jobs however this is also clunky and dated."
A director, facilities services who reviewed it on 2024-02-07 describes it on Capterra
"If you have multiple systems you cannot use them both with the same e-mail easily."
But an IT project coordinator, construction, 2+ years on the platform, reports it it differently on Capterra
"Accounts are only posting to Sage, invoices are created through E-Max"
But a commercial assistant, puts it it differently on GetApp
The realistic shortlist against BigChange
Alternatives a buyer would genuinely shortlist against BigChange. Read the billing unit beside each figure rather than the figure on its own, because a per-seat price and a flat platform fee aren't comparable numbers.
| Tool | Entry price | Billing unit | Users included | Published? |

| BigChange | Quote only | Custom quote | Every third-party directory that carries a BigChange figure | No |
| Joblogic | £45 | per user, per month, billed annually | 1 (priced per seat, linear to 50 users) | Yes |
| Commusoft | £59.00 | per user, per month | 1 (per-user model, minimum licence counts apply) | No |
| Tradify | £34.00 | per user, per month | 1 (Lite covers 1-3 users) | Yes |
| Jobber | $24 | per month, annual prepaid, 1 user included | 1 on Core, additional users $29 per month each | Yes |
Joblogic. Publishing an actual entry price and offering a no-card free trial, so a UK contractor can evaluate without a sales cycle. Also stronger on multi-trade and subcontractor workflows. But Fleet and vehicle telematics, which is BigChange's original business and still its structural advantage.
Commusoft. Service contract and PPM handling for UK heating and plumbing firms, and a deeper customer-facing portal. But Vehicle tracking, and it's equally quote-driven, so it solves none of BigChange's price-opacity problem.
Tradify. Small UK trade businesses. Published price, free trial, and you can be running the same week rather than the same quarter. But Anything at BigChange's scale. No fleet telematics, no ruggedised hardware programme, thinner asset and PPM depth.
Jobber. Total price transparency, self-serve signup, and residential service workflows. Every tier and every add-on user rate sits on the public pricing page. But UK fit. Priced in USD, built around US residential home service, and no vehicle telematics or ruggedised device programme.

Who should not buy BigChange
Don't buy BigChange if you're A one-to-five person residential trade business that wants to sign up this afternoon.
Don't buy BigChange if you're A genuinely multi-trade contractor running distinct divisions off one back office. Reviewers who tried it across trades describe the product as fit for a one-trade business, and the reporting weakness compounds when you need per-division costing rather than one blended view. Look at Simpro or Joblogic instead.
Don't buy BigChange if you're A US or Canadian contractor.
Don't buy BigChange if you're A business whose buying case rests on the AI agents.
The verdict, by shop size
Solo operator to 5 engineers
No. Wrong shape entirely. There's no published price, no free trial and no free version, so evaluating BigChange means a demo and a negotiated order form carrying a minimum term you can't see before the call. And add prepaid implementation training that expires after 12 months and per-device tablet data you can overrun, and a five-person firm is buying enterprise procurement friction to solve a scheduling problem that Tradify or Jobber solves this afternoon for a published number. This band runs 1 to 5 on the crew, doing residential and service work, and that's the profile the recommendation is written for.
6 to 15 engineers, mixed residential and commercial
Only under conditions, and they are worth being honest about. This is the band where it can go either way, and the deciding factor is your vans. If you already run vehicle tracking as a separate subscription and you're paying for it, folding it into the job management system is a real consolidation win and BigChange is the strongest option for that specific move. But if tracking isn't a cost you already carry, you're paying for the fleet half of a fleet-first product. And test the reporting hard at this size, because reporting is the consistent complaint and you're small enough that nobody on staff will build workarounds for it. This band runs 6 to 15 on the crew, doing residential and commercial and service work, and that's the profile the recommendation is written for.
16 to 100 engineers, contracted commercial service and PPM
Yes, and this is the shape the product is built for. This is what the product is built for and where the reviews come from. Facilities, utilities, security and environmental services firms at this scale consistently rate it well, the custom worksheet builder handles unusual compliance paperwork better than most of the category, and the fleet layer earns its keep. Three things to negotiate before signing: the per-device data allowance and its excess rate, a fixed price for every document template you need built, and a cap on the clause that accelerates the whole remaining term if BigChange terminates for cause. This band runs 16 to 100 on the crew, doing commercial and service work, and that's the profile the recommendation is written for.
Any size, multi-trade with separate divisions
No. Reviewers who ran it across trades describe the product as fit for a one-trade business, and the known reporting weakness gets worse when you need per-division costing rather than one blended view. And worksheets are flexible enough to fake it at the job-form level, which is exactly what makes this a trap: the demo looks fine and the month-end doesn't. This band runs undefined or more on the crew, doing commercial and service work, and that's the profile the recommendation is written for.
Any size, US or Canadian
No. It's governed by the laws of England and Wales with exclusive jurisdiction in London, integrated with Xero and Sage but not QuickBooks, and priced in sterling by every directory that carries a figure. Nothing about it is hostile to a North American buyer. But it just wasn't built for one. This band runs undefined or more on the crew, doing residential and commercial and service work, and that's the profile the recommendation is written for.
Something adjacent to BigChange, then we'll get out of your way
We should declare an interest, or rather the absence of one. Fervor takes nothing from BigChange or any of its rivals. What we've got is data on the demand side.
BigChange puts no price on its own pricing page and sells instead on a multiplier, £5 saved for every £1 spent, while the directories that do carry figures can't agree whether the £14.95 to £124.95 range is charged per user or per vehicle. But either way you're buying a fixed monthly cost per van, and a multiplier needs won work to multiply, because an idle vehicle bills at exactly the same rate as a booked one. Fervor inspected the contractor sites in its index and found 95.8% carry a serious WCAG violation, which is a fair description of where the jobs that were supposed to fill those vans quietly go.
So we went and looked. We inspected 380 contractor websites for the Contractor CRO Index, and 95.8% of them carried a serious accessibility violation. And the method is public, because a number you cannot audit is not evidence. All of it is documented in the Contractor CRO Index.
"95.8% of the 380 contractor websites inspected carried a serious accessibility violation."

What this page is, and what it isn't. We read BigChange's own pages and its review corpus. We didn't operate it. What it is instead: BigChange's own 11 pages read line by line on 7 August 2026, plus the review corpus read by complaint type rather than by star rating. Prices were checked the same day. Nothing here is carried forward from an older sweep.
So: 13 quotes on this page, nine from Capterra, three from Software Advice and one from GetApp.
And G2 (https://www.g2.com/products/bigchange/pricing) returned HTTP 403, Trustpilot (https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/bigchange.com) returned HTTP 403, Simpro Group pricing (https://www.simprogroup.com/uk/pricing) returned HTTP 403 and Reddit: not fetchable in this environment refused automated retrieval for BigChange. Forum and social threads are the ones people most want quoted, and they are exactly the ones we cannot verify, so none of them are here.
What that leaves untested: apple App Store and Google Play listings for the BigChange engineer app: no listing URL resolved on the IDs tried, both returned 404, so mobile-app reviews are absent from this bank. And everything above is eleven vendor pages and a review corpus, which is documentary rather than hands-on.
What BigChange users say
A 500mb data allowance per tablet per month is virtually impossible to stay within on a platform that encourages plenty of photo taking as part of workflows - this results in high excess data charges…a very painful and unneeded extra cost.
The product is only fit for a one trade business
Outrageously high costs to set up quoting documents
There's a lack of Data analysis available. The information is in there, but there's not enough ways of pulling it out currently.
The financial side of BC reporting isn't really up to scratch at the moment
Data extraction for any business the data is so important, Big Change are working on this
emails sent from big change are 50/50 whether they will deliver to the clients or not, which means we have to send them manually anyway and makes the process longer so we now dont use that function since it is the same outcome
Not easy to work out how to use reporting etc, without using the university.
It's too clunky - multiple pop ups and no real organisational system
Stock & Equipment is not easy to use at all
We integrate the system with a client meaning they can allocate us jobs however this is also clunky and dated.
If you have multiple systems you cannot use them both with the same e-mail easily.
Accounts are only posting to Sage, invoices are created through E-Max
Frequently asked questions
How much does BigChange cost?
BigChange doesn't publish a price. Its pricing page carries a return-on-investment claim and two buttons, and the only figure on it is the claim that customers save £5 for every £1 spent. Third-party directories carry numbers, and they disagree. Capterra and GetApp list four plans running £14.95 to £124.95 per user per month. But Software Advice UK lists three plans running £14.95 to £99.95 per vehicle per month, with the entry job-management tier at £69.95 rather than £79.95. So the billing unit itself changes between those two sources, which tells you how much of this is negotiated per deal. Treat any published figure as a starting point for a conversation, not a rate card.
Does BigChange have a free trial?
No. Capterra records no free trial and no free version. The route in is a demo and a quote. The terms do reference free trials and previews being provided on an as-is, with-all-faults, as-available basis with the uptime and warranty clauses switched off. So a trial can exist as a negotiated thing. But it isn't a self-serve option on the website.
What happens to my data if I leave BigChange?
You get a year. The terms give you the opportunity to obtain a backup of your Client Data during the term and for 365 days following termination, and from day 366 BigChange reserves the right to permanently delete it. So that's more generous than most of the category. But the clause worth noticing separately is the ownership one: once BigChange has anonymised your data, the terms let it use that anonymised data for other purposes, with no time limit attached.
Is there a minimum contract term with BigChange?
Almost certainly, and the published terms won't tell you what it is. They refer to 'your minimum commitment' as something that already exists and push the length into your individual order form. And the terms also confirm the service renews automatically unless terminated in accordance with that order, so both the term length and the notice period live on paperwork you only see once you're in a sales process. Get both written down before anything gets signed.
What happens if BigChange terminates my contract?
Everything left on the term becomes due at once. Clause 13 makes all fees payable for the remainder of the then-current term, including all hardware instalments, immediately due and payable within thirty days of a termination for cause. Where the breach can be remedied you get 10 business days to fix it first. So on a long term signed recently, that acceleration is a serious number, and it's worth asking for a cap during negotiation.
Does BigChange integrate with QuickBooks?
No. The integrations page names Xero and Sage and nothing else, and there's no marketplace or app directory to check beyond it. So if you run QuickBooks, your options are a custom build against the REST API or a change of accounting package. And read the API licence before you plan the build, because clause 8 restricts using the API to transfer data to third-party products that compete with or commercially substitute for BigChange functionality.
Are the BigChange AI features unlimited?
No. The Service Quotas policy caps JustAsk business intelligence at 6 credits per build per month, and puts JobReady, JobScribe and JobBrief on a 'Fair Use' limit that BigChange defines and judges. FieldReady is capped at 20 video slots per build with a 2-minute limit per video. If a quota is exceeded, the policy lets BigChange throttle, truncate responses or downgrade the AI model you get, without notice, and it can change any of those limits at any time.
Who owns BigChange?
Simpro Group, which acquired it in October 2024 from private equity firm Great Hill Partners, which retained a minority stake. The integration is visible in the paperwork: BigChange's API licence routes legal notices to general.counsel@simprogroup.com, and the Service Quotas policy names Simpro rather than BigChange as the party determining AI refresh intervals. Simpro Group also owns AroFlo and ClockShark.
Freshness
How we keep this page current
Three dates govern this review, and they carry different meanings. The initial source sweep is dated August 7, 2026; when only part of the evidence set is recaptured later, that later date is stated beside the refreshed claim. We last revised the page on August 7, 2026. And the user reviews we quote were posted over roughly the last 24 months, so their individual dates remain part of the evidence instead of being overwritten by a later pricing update.
We revise the page when BigChange changes a published price or a contract term, when a rating we cite moves by more than a few tenths, or when the vendor ships something big enough to change the verdict. We never bump the date just to look fresh, because Google treats that as manipulation and so do we. If a figure here reads as stale by the time you land on it, treat it as a floor and check the vendor's own page. We linked it at every number for exactly that reason.
Sourcing
How this review was researched
Every figure on this page traces to a captured source linked inline where it appears. The initial sweep is dated August 7, 2026; any later, partial recapture is dated at the claim rather than relabelling the whole evidence set. Ratings come from Capterra, GetApp, Software Advice and the Apple App Store. Note that Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice share one Gartner Digital Markets review pool, so an identical score across all three is a single sample rather than three corroborating ones, and this page treats it that way. G2, TrustRadius and Trustpilot block automated access, so where their numbers appear they are labelled as reported rather than verified. No claim here is sourced from Reddit or from a contractor Facebook group, because neither could be retrieved and quoting them would mean inventing attribution. Pricing marked as reported comes from third-party roundups, never from Fervor. Fervor's own findings come from the Contractor CRO Index 2026.
