Call Us TodayThe Columbus, OH HVAC specifics your website needs.
Every angle below comes from how Columbus, OH homeowners search, evaluate, and buy, built into your site to help boost conversions.
Columbus Winters Want Dual-Fuel
Columbus sits in Climate Zone 5A with a 0°F winter design temperature, roughly 18% more heating load than Cincinnati. So the dominant local answer is a dual-fuel system: you size the heat pump to the cooling load so it does not short-cycle in summer, and let a gas furnace take over below its practical crossover point around 35°F. And getting that crossover point programmed correctly is the top shoulder-season service call in this market.
70% Summer Humidity Does Double Duty
Your summer design temperature is 91°F, but central Ohio humidity regularly tops 70%, so your cooling equipment is removing moisture as much as heat. That is why local installers commonly spec variable-speed blowers, which dehumidify far better than single-stage equipment across a long, muggy run. And it is another reason to size the heat pump to the cooling load rather than oversize it, because an oversized unit cools fast and leaves the air damp.
House Bill 6 Killed Your Utility Rebates
There is no general, all-income HVAC rebate live from either major Columbus utility. Ohio House Bill 6 eliminated mandated utility efficiency programs statewide at the end of 2020, and neither AEP Ohio nor Columbia Gas has restored a general heat pump, AC, or furnace rebate since. Columbia Gas's old $300 furnace and $350 boiler instant rebates have ended outright. So do not promise a homeowner a rebate that no longer exists.
Only Income-Qualified Help Survives Here
The programs still standing are income-tested. AEP Ohio's HELP covers low or no-cost HVAC and weatherization for households up to 300% of the federal poverty level, but applications are paused for 2026 and expected to reopen in the fall for 2027 assistance. And Columbia Gas keeps WarmChoice, free weatherization at or below 200% of the poverty guidelines, though that is a weatherization service, not an equipment rebate.
Ohio's IRA Rebates Have Not Opened
Two more incentives are not claimable yet. The federal Section 25C credit expired December 31, 2025 and cannot touch a 2026 install. And Ohio's IRA-funded HOMES and HEAR programs, designed to pay up to $8,000 per heat pump for households under 150% of area median income, got DOE design approval but had not opened applications as of mid-2026, with no firm launch date announced. So treat them as coming, not available.
Columbus Adds Its Own Contractor Registration
A state license is not enough inside the city. Columbus City Code Chapter 4114 requires its own contractor registration through Building and Zoning Services: your state OCILB license, a $25,000 surety bond, a $350 fee, and liability insurance naming the city. And any furnace or AC changeout or new install within city limits needs a Columbus mechanical permit, while properties out in unincorporated Franklin County permit through the county instead.
Ohio Wants Five Years And Half A Million
At the state level, the Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board issues the HVAC contractor license, and the bar is steep. You need five years of trade experience, or three with a registered HVAC engineer, passing scores of 70% or better on both a trade exam and an open-book business-and-law exam, and at least $500,000 in liability insurance naming OCILB as certificate holder. So the qualifying officer behind your contractor is carrying real credentials.
2AM Is When HVAC Actually Sells
Emergency searches like "AC not working" happen at the worst possible hour, and the homeowner calls whoever's site loads fastest with a real phone number visible. Ranking for calm-hours keywords doesn't help at 2am.
A Furnace Town Where the January Phone Decides the Year
The defining call in this market isn't a hot kitchen in July. It's a cold house at 6 a.m. The numbers here come straight from our State of HVAC 2026.
Get My Site Inspectionin January, a furnace that won't fire, and a homeowner in Westerville typing "furnace repair near me" with cold fingers. Cooling season is real here, but heating is the business: the no-heat emergency is the highest-urgency, highest-trust-transfer call your shop will ever take, and the Local Pack decides who takes it. The same crew also handles HVAC Conversion Rate Optimization in Columbus, OH.
And the market under that call is changing fast. The Intel build-out has pulled growth up the New Albany corridor, the suburbs from Hilliard to Pickerington keep adding rooftops, and the newcomers pick contractors from the search shelf because they don't have a referral network yet. We run the same build nearby for HVAC SEO in Charleston, WV.
So the first question for any HVAC SEO Columbus engagement isn't "what keywords do we target." It's whether your Google Business Profile is built out, whether your service pages match what central Ohio actually searches season by season, and whether your reviews are fresh enough that Google still believes the trucks roll. And most shops here fail at least two of those three.
"25% of homeowners say trusting contractors is their top challenge when planning home improvement projects." - Houzz Inc. (2025) One in four prospects is scoring you on trust before price ever comes up. And at 6 a.m. with a cold house, that scoring happens in seconds: review count, review recency, response rate, photos that look like this year. A Columbus HVAC SEO program that skips the trust layer hands the most valuable mornings of the year to whoever didn't.
The Columbus Local Pack: Where Columbus HVAC SEO Weight Sits
Whitespark's 2026 Local Search Ranking Factors study puts Google Business Profile signals as the heaviest single category for Local Pack rankings, review signals close behind, and on-page third. Eight of the top ten Local Pack factors come straight from the profile. So more than half of your visibility when a Bexley homeowner searches "furnace repair" lives in GBP and reviews, not in your website.

Google Business Profile Setup for Central Ohio Contractors
Primary category: HVAC Contractor . Not Heating Contractor alone, even in a furnace town, because the cooling season carries real revenue and the dual-intent category ranks you for both buckets. Google caps you at four categories total , so pick secondaries off your actual ticket mix: Furnace Repair Service, Air Conditioning Repair Service, Heating Contractor.

One Service Page Per Equipment Type, No Exceptions
Here's where hvac contractor seo columbus work separates from the template stuff. One "Our Services" page listing nine offerings ranks for none of them, because Google matches queries to pages, not to businesses. The homeowner searching "furnace replacement cost" should land on your furnace page with central Ohio content on it, not a bullet list and a phone number.

Questions Contractors Ask Before Hiring Us
Calls from homeowners in Columbus who are already searching for your trade. The work is to rank you for the high-intent local queries that move revenue, then make sure the page converts the click once it lands.
You see the scoring framework, the benchmark data behind it, and your ranked fix list before any remediation work begins. It is a diagnosis you can evaluate, not a promise you have to trust.
The Fervor Grade framework was built by scoring 380 contractor sites across roofing, remodeling, and HVAC. Your trade's patterns are in the data, not borrowed from SaaS or dentists.
The Site Inspection takes about three days, and it needs about three minutes from you. The ranking work that follows is ongoing, because search is.
You do. The domain, the content, the analytics, every account we touch. Day one. No ownership traps, no holding your site hostage if you leave.
Then you found out something that was already costing you, and now you know where. The inspection surfaces what is actually wrong on the site so you can decide what to fix.
No. We work with HVAC contractors across the region, and the research covers national brands too, so the benchmark holds whether you are downtown or two towns over.
The Site Inspection is scoped and quoted before it begins. You only pay for the remediation work once you have seen the diagnosis and decided it is worth fixing.
No. The work protects what already ranks. We map the URLs and the equity first, fix the conversion leaks, and improve the pages that search already trusts rather than wiping them.
Very little. The intake takes minutes, and the build work is ours to run from there. You keep running crews. We will only ask for things no one else can give us, like your real service area and your best photos.
