Let’s talk about what your website could be doing for your business.

Call Us Today

The Boston, MA Remodeling specifics your website needs.

Every angle below comes from how Boston, MA homeowners search, evaluate, and buy, built into your site to help boost conversions.

Half Of Boston Predates World War II

Your Boston remodel almost always means old bones. The Census puts the median year built at 1947, and about 47 percent of the city's 318,000 homes date to 1939 or earlier, the era of brick rowhouses, brownstones, and wood triple-deckers. So you plan for balloon framing, knob-and-tube wiring, plaster walls, and shared party walls that a postwar suburb never hands you. And that pre-1940 age drives nearly every rule below.

Back Bay Reviews All Exterior Work

If your home sits in a Boston local historic district, exterior work needs commission sign-off first. The Back Bay Architectural District was designated by the Legislature in 1966, and the Back Bay Architectural Commission holds that all proposed exterior work is subject to its review. You must win Design Approval before you begin or even buy materials. So a window replacement, a new deck, or siding waits on that hearing.

Boston Delays Demolition Of Older Homes

Because Boston's housing skews old, Article 85 reaches most of it. The Boston Landmarks Commission reviews demolition of all buildings at least 50 years of age, and if it deems a structure significant, the Commissioner of Inspectional Services cannot issue a demolition permit until ninety days pass after the hearing. So if your remodel tears down a rear ell or a whole house for a rebuild, you budget that delay.

Boston Charges $10 Per Building Thousand

The City of Boston Inspectional Services Department prices building permits by estimated cost. A short-form building permit runs a 20 dollar primary fee plus 10 dollars per 1,000 dollars of work, and a long-form permit for larger jobs runs 50 dollars primary plus the same 10 per thousand. So a 30,000 dollar Boston kitchen remodel carries about 320 dollars in the building permit alone, before electrical, plumbing, and gas permits.

Massachusetts Registers Your Remodeler

Before you contract a Boston remodel, Massachusetts law treats it as home improvement work. General Law Chapter 142A defines residential contracting as reconstruction, renovation, repair, or an addition to a pre-existing owner-occupied building with at least one but not more than four dwelling units, which describes most of Boston's rowhouse and triple-decker stock. So your contractor must register with the Commonwealth as a Home Improvement Contractor, and you should confirm it first.

A Top-Ten Lawsuit State

Massachusetts has climbed into the top tier of states for website accessibility filings, and its own law backs the ADA. Chapter 272 protects places of public accommodation from disability discrimination, and Chapter 151B lets the MCAD and courts award damages and attorney fees. So a blind visitor who cannot use your contact form has a state claim, not only a federal one. And Massachusetts takes these seriously.

The State Adds Its Own Teeth

Under Chapter 272 Section 98, a person shut out of a public accommodation can recover damages, with a floor set at three hundred dollars plus fees, and Chapter 151B widens the remedies. And Massachusetts filers cite the same failures every time, meaning missing alt text, weak contrast, and forms a keyboard cannot reach. So the fix list is knowable in advance. You can close those gaps before anyone files.

Fake Reviews Are Now Illegal

The FTC's Rule on Consumer Reviews and Testimonials took effect on October 21, 2024, and it targets exactly the shortcuts contractors get tempted to take. You cannot buy reviews, write them as the owner without disclosing it, or post testimonials from people who never hired you. And the FTC can seek civil penalties of up to $53,088 per violation. So that glowing five-star wall needs to be real and disclosed.

The Slowest-Loading Trade We Measure

Start with the finding that reframes what a remodeling website is for. Your trade sells on images, so your sites run heavy, so they load slow. Fervor inspected 146 remodeling contractor websites for the Digital State of the Remodeling Industry report, and the speed numbers came back the worst in the whole framework. This page is one piece of our Remodeling Website Design work.

The First Screen, and the Gap Behind the Average

So picture the person the whole build exists for. A homeowner in a Back Bay brownstone is standing in a kitchen that's survived four owners, phone in hand, finally serious. She taps your result. What renders next, a clear headline over real project photos, or a spinning hero and a cookie banner, decides whether your shop makes her list. The inspection scores that moment as its own category. The numbers here come straight from our State of Remodeling 2026.

The Portfolio Paradox: Galleries That Sell Without Stalling

Here's the paradox at the center of remodeling web design. Your best sales tool is the before-and-after, and your before-and-afters are exactly what make the site slow. The same crew also handles Remodeling Conversion Rate Optimization in Boston, MA.

So the craft isn't "add more photos." It's an image pipeline that ships proof fast: WebP compression, images sized to the screen requesting them, lazy loading below the fold, dimensions reserved so the layout doesn't jump. We run the same build nearby for Remodeling Website Design in Providence, RI.

None of that is exotic, but it has to be an architecture decision, because a theme that dumps full-resolution files onto a phone is why 85.3% of the trade fails the speed bar.

"Major kitchen remodels have a median spend of $55,000, compared to $20,000 for minor kitchen projects." - Houzz Inc. (2026)

And Greater Boston runs well above that median, with most kitchens landing between $45,000 and $110,000. One captured search, ten months patient, worth more here than almost anywhere in the country. That's the plain math that makes the image pipeline the highest-return line in the whole build, especially for the Newton, Brookline, and Wellesley work where the big tickets concentrate.

Project Pages for a City That Invented the Triple-Decker

But a template doesn't know this metro, and Boston punishes templates with its housing form. More than fifteen thousand triple-deckers went up between 1880 and 1930, Dorchester holds more of them than any neighborhood, and they're their own discipline: three units of plumbing stacked on century-old framing, owner-occupant economics with tenants on the other floors, and the condo-conversion math that turns one renovation into three.

Questions Contractors Ask Before Hiring Us

A site that books the job instead of just describing it. The work is conversion architecture first, so every page in Boston has a clear call path, real proof, and fast mobile load.

You see the scoring framework, the benchmark data behind it, and your ranked fix list before any remediation work begins. It is a diagnosis you can evaluate, not a promise you have to trust.

The Fervor Grade framework was built by scoring 380 contractor sites across roofing, remodeling, and HVAC. Your trade's patterns are in the data, not borrowed from SaaS or dentists.

A Booked by Design rebuild runs 30 to 60 days. It starts with a Site Inspection so the build targets the pages that are costing you calls.

You do. The domain, the content, the analytics, every account we touch. Day one. No ownership traps, no holding your site hostage if you leave.

Then you found out something that was already costing you, and now you know where. The inspection surfaces what is actually wrong on the site so you can decide what to fix.

No. We work with remodeling contractors across the region, and the research covers national brands too, so the benchmark holds whether you are downtown or two towns over.

A Booked by Design rebuild is one project price with no monthly lock-in. One booked job at your average ticket usually covers it, and we show you that math before you commit.

No. The work protects what already ranks. We map the URLs and the equity first, fix the conversion leaks, and improve the pages that search already trusts rather than wiping them.

Very little. The intake takes minutes, and the build work is ours to run from there. You keep running crews. We will only ask for things no one else can give us, like your real service area and your best photos.

“5 stars without hesitation. Working with Fervor has been an amazing experience from start to finish. The level of professionalism was genuinely top tier. Communication was excellent, quick replies, clear updates, and always open to feedback or changes without any problem. What stood out most is that you can tell he genuinely knows web design inside and out from real professional experience, not just someone throwing together templates. He put real effort, care, and thought into the project, even offering his own ideas and suggestions to improve things I hadn't even considered. On top of that, he's genuinely a great guy to deal with, easy to talk to, open-minded, helpful, and clearly passionate about what he does. I'd confidently recommend him to anyone looking for a professional website or branding help. Huge respect and appreciation.”
